Downtown Minneapolis Traffic Count in Public Ramp Skyways
Conducted for Minneapolis Public Works Department. In this annual study for the city, pedestrian traffic volumes and turn movements are documented at 30-40 locations in the downtown public parking ramp system linked by skyways. Analyses within the study include:
- Analysis of weather impacts and sources of traffic in tunnel system
- Vehicle entry counts versus ramp skyway traffic volumes for event and non-event conditions at many locations
- Seasonal (fall vs. winter) weather traffic volume comparisons
- Measurement of traffic in new 4th Street tunnel system (completed December 1997) linking Federal Courthouse, City Hall, Grain Exchange and Haaf Ramp
- Analysis of ramp user/pedestrian access at skyway level
- Sources of skyway traffic: parking ramp users versus other pedestrians
- Proportion of ramp users using skyways
