In high-traffic pedestrian spaces like the Nicollet Mall retail district, volumes and changes in pedestrian travel patterns are documented. In 2000-2001, sidewalk closures f
or new building construction changed these patterns. In 2002 the impact of a new Target store and office buildings on Mall traffic was found to be 70 percent.
